Savannah Tracking Ltd. develops advanced wildlife tracking hardware, data platforms, and field support systems for conservation, research, and wildlife management projects. Established in Kenya in 2008 and expanded to British Columbia, Canada, in 2022, the company combines behavioural ecology, software, hardware engineering, electronics, and workshop production expertise to deliver systems built for demanding field conditions.
The company designs its tracking systems, software, and bespoke electronic components in-house, while also collaborating with specialist technology partners on electronics research, development, and manufacturing. Savannah Tracking works with animal researchers, government institutions, NGOs, and conservation partners across Africa and internationally.
Its solutions support near real-time wildlife monitoring, movement analysis, geo-fencing, alerting, conflict mitigation, and long-term conservation planning.

We are equally committed to reducing the environmental footprint of both our operations and the products we develop through responsible, energy-efficient and sustainable practices.
Energy-Efficient Tracking Technology
Sustainability is built into the design of our wildlife tracking solutions. We introduced auxiliary solar charging on our standard collar models which most clients are going for due to their smaller and lighter builds with fewer primary cells as the solar component provides large power inputs. This has resulted in a significant reduction in the average size of collars and use of primary lithium cells. By harnessing renewable solar energy alongside efficient battery systems, we aim to reduce energy consumption, minimise the need for frequent battery replacement and support longer-lasting tracking solutions. This approach enables our technology to operate efficiently in challenging environments while contributing to more responsible and environmentally conscious wildlife monitoring.
Solar-Powered Operations
Our production facility and offices are powered by solar energy, significantly reducing our reliance on conventional energy sources and helping to lower our carbon footprint. By investing in renewable energy, we are demonstrating that sustainable technology can be integrated into everyday business operations.
Rainwater Harvesting
We have implemented rainwater harvesting at our facility to make responsible use of this valuable natural resource. Harvested rainwater is used across our offices and production operations, helping to reduce dependence on conventional water sources and promote efficient water management.
Organic Food Production
We grow our own organic food at our facility, which is prepared and served to our staff and visitors. This initiative promotes sustainable agriculture, reduces the environmental impact associated with transporting food, and encourages healthier and more responsible consumption.
Waste Recycling and Responsible Resource Use
We actively recycle waste generated within our operations, ensuring that materials are responsibly managed and, where possible, reused or redirected from disposal.
